I’m not a big fan of new year’s resolutions. They usually involve thoughts around quitting something. We say things like “this year I will loose weight” or “this year I will quit sugar”. Usually by February most people have given into temptation and given up on their resolution. You see, we have set ourselves up to fail right from the setting of the resolution.
However I do like the idea of having things I resolve to do. You are probably asking what is the difference? Isn’t resolve just another way of saying resolution? Well to me a resolution is a one time decision. The moment you make it, it already looses momentum. However if you resolve to do something I believe it is more about doing something different every day and taking steps towards a goal as opposed to cutting yourself off cold turkey.
So if I say I am going to resolve to eat less sugar, I would be more conscious of what sugar I was having and finding ways to gradually cut back on it.
Now we have been applying the above to lifestyle choices. But have you thought of things you would like to resolve to do in your business this year? Maybe you want to create more articles on your website. Perhaps you want to learn how to do social media better.
We’ve created a free worksheet so you can give the idea of putting into place some things you resolve to do in 2016. You can use it for business, for personal or both – up to you. So download it below, print it out, fill it in and make sure you pin it up somewhere visible so you can be reminded of it every day.
